MOTHERS OF THE WORLD : AN ANIMATED SHORT FILM

Mothers of the World is an animated short video, produced by the European Network of Migrant Women and directed by film-maker Vaishnavi Sundar. It is inspired by the stories of five migrant and refugee mothers from Afghanistan, Somalia, Ukraine, Philippines and Turkey.

This 20-minute animation presents a series of portraits of the women who took difficult journeys into Europe, their quest for safety, security and stability for themselves and their children, their daily struggles and the courage and wisdom with which they deal with the new challenges in Europe.

Associazione Aura is also a member of the International Coalition for the Abolition of Surrogate Motherhood (CIAMS/ICASM), a coalition of feminist and human rights organisations founded in 2018 to combat reproductive exploitation. With over 50 member organisations working in 14 countries – Australia, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Colombia, France, Italy, Japan, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine and United Kingdom – CIAMS works across borders to end the reproductive exploitation and commodification of women and girls.

Associazione Aura is also a member of the Brussels’ Call, a coalition of more than 200 civil society organisations and a dozens of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), working together to combat violence against women and girls through the end of the prostitution system. Our coalition advocates for a Europe free from prostitution where the values non-discrimination, freedom from oppression and freedom from violence are upheld.

The Brussels’ Call works with leaders in European Institutions and Member State Governments to implement legal and policy reforms that support women and girls. We are currently working towards the implementation of the Equality Model in all European Union Member States
